Musoma to Serengeti — The Route Less Travelled

For travellers seeking a less crowded, more affordable approach, the route from Musoma to the western Serengeti offers solitude, value, and a completely different perspective.

When most travellers plan a Serengeti safari, the starting point is almost always Arusha. But it is not the only way in.

From Musoma, the Serengeti is accessible via the Ndabaka Gate (88 km) and the Fort Ikoma Gate (150 km). Both give access to the western corridor — which sees a fraction of the tourist traffic that the central Seronera area attracts.

You sleep in comfort the night before, with lake views and a proper restaurant. You depart early with a packed lunch. You enter through a gate most visitors never use, and return to the resort by evening — instead of paying premium rates inside the park.

For a complete experience, many guests combine a stay here with our sister property, Mwitongo Lodge in Butiama — lakeside relaxation in Musoma, cultural and historical depth in Butiama.
